Breakfast of Champions

This was always my go to breakfast for years. It fell off for a while while I was doing some intermittent fasting to drop some weight, which worked but my energy level dropped. I’ve been wondering why I’ve been so tired lately and realized my nutrition is not the best. I’ve never been a fan of snacking on a piece of fruit, or eating vegetables – except in salads. So I created this smoothie based on nutritional information.
With my nifty little nutra-bullet, which I L-O-V-E. I’ve started to enjoy this little treat each morning and honestly my energy, concentration, etc, etc. have improved.
- Frozen Blueberries – (superfood list)promote cardiovascular, brain, and digestive health, Vitamin K (bone health), high in antioxidants (so much more google this little gem)
- Strawberries (super food) – contains, vitamin C (essential antioxidant that supports immune function and collagen production), potassium (and electrolyte that helps regulate blood pressure) manganese (antioxidant that supports bone health and brain function) and Flavonoids (which protect against chronic diseases)
- 1/2 small banana – (super food) excellent source of potassium, magnesium, B6 and Vitamin C, fiber, and antioxidants
- 5 or 6 dark frozen cherries – (super food) High in antioxidants, contains melatonin for sleep, and can help reduce inflammation – especially gout by reducing uric acid levels.
- 1/8 avocado- (super food) contains monounsaturated fat which helps lower bad cholesterol and increase good cholesterol. Also high in potassium which helps regulate bp. Also makes the smoothie extra creamy.
- small handful spinach – (super food) rich in carotenoids, vitamin C, vitamin K, folic acid iron and calcium. Nitrate contend wand reduce cholesterol and improve athletic performance – i.e think of Popeye
- small handful kale – (super food) High in A,C,K, calcium, potassium. folic acid, lutein, carotenoids, and antioxidants
- 1 scoop Organics pea protein (I like chocolate) (2 scoops =21 g protein)
- 1 tbsp Meta mucil – extra fiber – we don’t get enough not only does it regulate us, it helps us stay fuller longer so we don’t snack as much – win, win – get your fiber in.
- 1 tbsp cocoa – (super food) high in magnesium and iron, which supports nerve function, muscle health and immune system – also enhances cognitive function, mood and promotes gut health and increases serotonin levels
- 1 tbsp chia seeds – (you guessed it – super food) main reason I added this is it’s high in omega-3. Since I don’t really eat fish, this is a good way for me to get it.
- 1 tbsp flax / hemp seed (super food) – high omega 3, fiber, high fiber and minerals, magnesium, zinc, iron and phosphorus
- 1 tbsp wheat germ (super food) – high in vitamin E, zinc, magnesium and thiamine, fiber, protein and omega 3.
- 1 tsp blue green algae powder – (SUPER FOOD) this stuff is gold and a little pricey, but when started to add this to my smoothie, I noticed my concentration, focus and energy levels increased. It enhances mental clarity and cognition, support the immune system and increases energy.
- 1/3 -is water in base
Give it a try and see if your energy, concertation, focus, overall feeling of wellness improve.
